At Good Shepherd, we believe that faith comes alive through service. As a community of faith, we’re committed to serving God and caring for others — wherever and whenever we're needed. We believe being the church means showing up with love, compassion, and practical support right where people are.
We are committed to working with community partners to ensure the needs of our community are met.
Ways to Serve: If you are looking for ways you might serve or grow as a disciple with the Good Shepherd family, we invite you to fill out our "Committing to Presence and Service" form. We look forward to serving alongside you!
Each week, we collect non-perishable food items for ACTS Food Pantry. Items can be left anytime in the baskets located in the Gathering Space.
Several times a year, we serve meals at the Hilda Barg and Ferlazzo Centers, offering nourishment and kindness to our neighbors.
Throughout the year, there are plenty of ways to get involved, including:
Assembling UMCOR Relief Kits
Collecting school supplies
Providing gifts through the Angel Tree
Good Shepherd no longer provides direct assistance to individuals in the community. In order to be good stewards of our resources, we partner with other community groups for food, rental, and utility services. We encourage you to call 211 to be connected with the most current list of local resources.
There are so many ways to get involved—whether it’s greeting folks on Sunday morning, helping with kids' ministry, running tech, or joining our outreach efforts in the community. No matter your gifts, age, or schedule, there’s a spot for you.
Let’s serve together, build relationships, and be the hands and feet of Jesus. We’re excited to see how God will use you!

Good Shepherd UMC is proud to be an official school partner with Neabsco Elementary. Each month, we collect specific items requested by the school to support students and staff — from school supplies to snacks and everything in between.
We work with Dale Elementary, providing Weekend Snack Packs for students who could use a little extra support. Our own children help pack these bags with care — usually enough for about 30 students at a time.
We’re active partners with the Hilda Barg Homeless Prevention Center and Ferlazzo Emergency Shelter, where we serve meals several times a year to individuals and families in crisis. This ministry is part of our ongoing work with the Cooperative Council of Ministries — a network of local churches working together to care for the community through coordinated outreach and support.
